Driving at Canberra Airport (CBR)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Pickups at the airport

How pick-up requests work

To receive a trip request at CBR, you need to enter the dedicated waiting area, where you will be placed in a virtual queue to receive a pickup request from the airport.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Enter the virtual queue

To place yourself in the queue, you’ll need to be waiting in the Majura Park Shopping Centre car park, as shown in yellow on the map below. You will not be able to wait for trip requests near the rideshare pickup area.

Step 2: Accept a request and head to the rideshare pickup area

Once you have accepted a trip request, follow navigation and the green signs to the “Express Pickup Area” for Canberra Airport Terminal. This driving route along Nomad Drive is shown in orange on the map below.

When you reach the pickup area, you will need to drive through a boom gate to enter the carpark (where the orange line meets the green box on the map below). You can only wait in this area for up to 15 minutes for free if you are registered for access. After 15 minutes, you will be required to pay standard parking fees to the airport.

Step 3: Locate your rider and exit the airport

You can wait for your rider in the Express Pickup Area carpark, as shown in green on the map below. Riders will request once they’ve left the terminal, and walk to the Express Pickup Area. Once you have connected with your rider, you’ll exit the parking lot through the boom gate.
