yeah well the dylan fest was totally lame! nothing going on!!!!! not even a street fair or something!!! it was a waste of gas and money on the towns part because they spent alot advertising it and nothing was happening not even the reading was going on! I thought it pretty rude to pride themselves as being bob dylans home town and not even have anything going but advertise it anyway...totally lame! I think NYC had the better fest
Cool site and nice piece from Ethan Miller. Have you checked out Tift Merritt? She played the Troubador in LA last month, Doug Pettibone from Lucinda William's band sat in on pedal steel. Maybe she's too Joni Mitchell and not enough Gram Parsons for this site, but worth a listen.
Hey there is a Dylan fest on the 24 in hibbing, MN too! they say it's his home town but im pretty sure he just graduated there and lived there for like a year and a half and then left for like sunset strip...could be totally wrong though!
Highland Park band Bodies of Water are playing the Echo tonight with the Castanets. To get to know this lovely foursome, we asked them some questions that have no doubt been on your mind.
When You Awake: If you weren't "Bodies of Water", what would you be? Bodies of Water: Maybe "black animal".
WYA: If you had a mascot, what would it be? BOW: Probably our 3 dogs.
The Mascots
WYA: What kind of dancing would you like to see in the crowd? BOW: It would be so great if folks busted out some traditional African dancing. That or the way very young children dance.
WYA: What kind of beverage goes best with your music? BOW: Beer. Or water.
WYA: Who would you love to have cover your music? BOW: Karl Blau.
Karl Blau- In Your Dreams
WYA: If you had a comic or cartoon after you, what sort of shenanigans would the characters get into? BOW: I'm imagining the characters all crammed in a little van on tour in various towns going to a bunch of thrift stores and buying way more stuff than they can fit in the van. We seem to accumulate a bunch of junk whenever we go out of town. That or going to shady eating establishments and all getting food poisoning but still playing shows. It would be funny to see everyone really ill, running back and forth to the bathroom during and between songs.
WYA: Where's your favorite place to perform? BOW: We've had our most fun shows in the the New York area. In LA, we like playing at the Echo.
WYA: What's your favorite thing to do after a show? BOW: Drink the free beer the venue gives us and talk to people and then go to Del Taco.
WYA: What living artist or band do you dream to perform with? BOW: This is tricky, I want to say bands that I really like and would like to watch but I'm not sure if they would be a good match for us to actually play with. Good match, shmood match. Antony and the Johnsons or Willie Nelson (we'd be his backing band) or maybe Hot Chip? That would be crazy.
WYA: In the spirit of Valentines Day coming up, what is your favorite love song? BOW: 'I Want to Be With You Always' by Lefty Frizzell
Lefty Frizzell- I Want To Be With You Always
WYA: What is your favorite body of water? BOW: The Mediterranean Ocean around southwest Italy. Or any baby pool in a friends backyard when its real hot out.
WYA: How many times has someone asked you what your favorite body of water is? BOW: Maybe like 4 times.
WYA: Anything you'd like to say to fans? BOW: Try and live each and every moment for what it is. Don't waste this one by spending it thinking of the next (I'm always telling myself this.)
Bodies of Water- I Heard It Sound
