Apparently, certain things make me giggle. I am realizing now that tongue-in-cheek double entendre, or veiled drug references in songs make me surprisingly (and inexplicably happy.) Well, if you haven't heard the new N.E.R.D. track, yet, I'd suggest you do so. Its much better than Flo Rida (who, is also inexplicably, holding the #1 spot on the Billboard charts.) I've surmised that music is dead. Oh well, f*** major record labels. All they do is spew out mass produced crap for mass consumption that the lemmings of our society will happily cosign on. Will I? Never!

I'll admit, I've been M.I.A. for a few days... But I'm back! With my Model United Nations Conference (I won an award!), and other school-related things, I haven't had much time for blogging.

Well, yesterday my school was visited by two Calvin Klein big wigs... One, the menswear President, the other, the creative director of mens sportswear. It was an enriching experience, I must say. But most importantly, I got the scoop on their next big project-- eCommerce! Starting July 2008, they'll be offering up the items available at their five, newly opened, White Label Store. Frankly, I'm excited! And I'm THE FIRST to blog this, so you should be happy to know that I've got the scoop for you guys...

-xx

Well, I feel special. Particularly considering the fact that I've only been on here since Friday evening! Keep reading, I'm going to keep posting... I'm trying to do at least one post a day. But even if I'm too tired to post here, I'll link you guys up to one of my entries for other sites, like WeAreTheMarket.

For years, I've sung her praises as not only an indie-film goddess (the movie Kids is actually an all-time fave of mine,) but a true style maven. She's actually pretty fabulous when she's not playing one-third of some sick, Mormon, love triangle. I mean, her quirky sense of style is both artsy, and chic-- much like her current neighborhood (the East Village.) And the day I discovered she showed up to some WASPy soirée in the same adorable J. Crew dress that became an instant fave of all my Summer frocks, I nearly died!

Ah, but anyways, the fabulous Miss. Sevigny's highly-anticipated Spring capsule collection hits stores today. She cites her "yuppie years" as a high school student in Connecticut as her chief inspiration. So, what does that mean? Very '80s, very hip. Her only qualm? She wishes the price point was a little lower (stating that she would've liked "high school girls" to be able to afford it.) But unfortunately, she went with Liberty of London for her screening-- and as anybody who's familiar with 'em can tell you, they don't work for peanuts. I think my only qualm about this whole thing is that due to prior commitments (aka schoolwork,) I cannot join in the festivities today. Although I'm hearing that her party tonight is expected to steal the thunder from even Marc Jacobs' legendary post-show parties! Well, not to fret, maybe I'll go shopping tomorrow...

My love affair with Fafi has been a long one. I think its pretty safe to say that any girl who can break the law, and be totally fabulous at the same time is alright in my book. Well, despite already having a plethora of collaborations under her belt, she is about to the one I'm most excited about-- Fafi for MAC!

I mean, really, how perfect is this? Her entire shtick is about feminine empowerment, and all of her Fafinettes sport makeup (you know, those little hearts on their cheeks?) Well, let me tell you that I will be certain to stock up when it drops later on this month. Oh, and I'd advise that you do the same-- its bound to be a sellout!

So, I guess since I'm new, I may as well introduce myself to you lovely ladies and gents. First off, I'm seventeen, and I'm 5'11". I know, I know, that's pretty tall. Well, I'm sure its not as bad as if you'd met me in elementary school (I was 5'5" in the third grade.) Any rate, I'm probably one of the youngest fashion journos around, if not the youngest. I write for WeAreTheMarket, a fashion and trend-centric blog. I write for some others as well. I do freelance, so its pretty much whomever picks up what pitch.

Fashion's my life, and my drug of choice. I've never taken drugs, or been drunk, but glamour is my intoxicant. I have my own unique sense of style and love those who share in this. I'm sick of pretense, I just want to meet other people who like to have fun, just like me, and who care about others. I may make cruel jokes at times, but it doesn't take much to melt my heart. I cry at Disney movies, and can't stand seeing children in pain; don't cry around me, because chances are, I'll be just as upset as you when all is said and done.

I love taking pictures of myself. I don't want to model, but I do have my favorites, like Chanel Iman, Agyness Deyn, and Irina. Marc and Jeremy are my icons. I love idiosyncratic fashion, and fashion with a message. I have always been enamored with politics and the law, so I love other intellectuals. I am fluent in English, and sarcasm, but I also speak a little French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Street art is amazing to me. I love Banksy, Neckface, and their ilk. As Banksy put it "I just want to be a non-conformist just like everyone else." Keith Haring inspires me, too. Musically, my tastes range from Mickey Factz (who is a good friend and one of the coolest people ever,) to Hot Chip. I'm going to see Justice at The Garden, because Lord knows I love electronica. M.I.A. is even more beautiful in person. Sometimes I just stop caring. Sometimes, I write in strings of non-coherent sentences. Really, I just want to meet fabulous people who don't try too hard-- who just are. Really, I just want to meet... another me.

Well, I must say I wasn't sure about this whole "Uber" thing before. Frankly, until the lovely Cory Kennedy moved her blog here, I never even knew of it. Well anyways, I was a diehard MySpacer for years! Despite having my profile deleted before when I had over 2,500 friends, and the anguish that caused (I did all the painstaking work of using CSS style sheets and div overlays-- and had innumerable contacts), I got back on the horse and created a new one. Well fast forward about 3 months, and 2,300 more friends later, and things seemed to be alright. That was, until I tried to log in today...

Here's what you're in for
Fashion, flashing lights, electronica and YSL lipstick; If those things seem even slightly amusing, then you'll probably be entertained by my musings. From indie bands, and trends, to new, cutting-edge labels, I try and keep you up to date with all of the hip happenings that I hear about, and the occasional recap of my day. Boring? Never. Fashionable? Always. Witty? Of course! Prepared to be amused. Oh, and shoot me a line with anything hip that you come up with. I may just write something about here, or on one of the other many places I write for!
