"Central Illinois-based Straight Jack hit you with the exact sound their name implies; cool, straightforward, no-nonsense alt-rock. This eight piece outfit manage to fuse jazz, pop, and rock elements and come out with a clean, refreshing sound. Led vocally by weaving the harmonies of female vocalists Amber, Debra, and Melinda, they avoid the forced angst, cheesy pop, and over-dramatic soul that plagues so many modern female rock bands."

"Under ground sensation, Straight Jack. A group fronted by three female singers, Amber, Debra, and Melinda, possessing a jazzy ballroom look, performed their own spin of rock and roll. Their set was full of surprises, including a cover of the Cranberries song, Zombie, and trumpet player Adam Boese popping up at random times, in random places of the venue. This was a band with no fear surrounding them.

"It is safe to say that a lot of influences find their way into the 4 tracks that make up Straight Jack's EP "Lush," but can they pull it off? With a blues influence combined with rock, alternative, and latin flavored horns, they somehow managed to pull all this together and create a good sound. The female vocalists add a different dynamic to the songs. The lead voice reminded me of Amy Lee's (Evanescence). I was really impressed especially with the middle two tracks of this EP. Straight Jack is worth checking out and I wouldn't be surprised to find them on a stage at next years Milwaukee summer bash.
