Artist/Designer, Brooks Shane Salzwedel didn't intend on becoming an accessory designer. But as a student at Pasadena's Art Center College of Design, his art was getting smaller and smaller until his pieces were about the size of a belt buckle. Now, 3 years later his handmade belt buckles and leather straps are a direct outcome of his love of experimenting with materials and love of nature.
The casted resin belt buckles contain eerie yet beautiful illustrative images of owls, deer, crows and even a few skulls. The hand laid process of the pieces create a foggy depth hard to find in other belt buckles and accessories. The award winning line has been well received in stores across the United States such as Ron Herman and A+R in Los Angeles to Odin in New York with many in between; Base in Miami, Willow in Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego.
Shane by Brooks Salzwedel has been awarded best buckles in Los Angeles by Los Angeles Magazine and Brooks also garnered press in GQ, Lucky, Justapoz, Timeout, Calabasas, UrbanDaddy.com, Refinery29.com, Flashfilm.com, and Notcot.com.
