For Uniqlo's latest limited edition tee shirts collection, the japanese chain has recruited Chloe Sevigny and Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano. The UT Project is all "about self-expression," so the two actors were asked to bring the designs to life by portraying characters and emotions they found within the t-shirts.

Ryan McGinley is a photographer from New York City.

His photographs are unpretentiouse and spontaniouse. Reminiscent of home snap shots, they appear to capture personal monments.

In his earlier work his joyful portrayal of youth in New York had a beautiful rawness to it.

Whilst in his more recent work there is a more natural, innocent feel.

He began his career while he was still at Parsons School of Design studying Graphics. By sending out a DIY book he made on his computer called “The Kids Are Alright “, to all the people he knew and liked in magazines and publishing.

The book featured photographs of his own social circle. With kids just hanging out and acting out. Spraying graffiti, messing about, stealing stuff, even masturbating. The simple snap shots, manage to capture intimate portraits of humanity. His subjects are people with strong personalities because then he is confident that whilst shooting “something interesting will occur.”

The book was well received, and despite still being in college, when Index Magazine received the book they took him on straight away, flying him to Berlin the day after they got it.

Now his photographs have been exhibited internationally, and he was the youngest artist to have a solo show at the Whitney Museum in 2002.

You may have even seen him gracing the pages of Vice, Dazed and Confused, Index, V, The Fader, I-D, Dutch, Butt and The New York Times Magazine. Yet he remains unaffected and maintains the sense of honesty and integrity in his work that is so refreshing.

His recent project entitled I Know Where the Summer Goes, captures the essence of long hot summers, road trips and rites of passages. It features young people playing naked in the countryside in a kind of joyful abandon.

Speaking of his proccess Ryan says I'll usually start with a rough idea, like how pretty it would be to have a whole tangle of naked people really high up in a tree. Then I'll find a location, get everyone together and tell the general plan but let everyone be spontaneous, within that controlled environment. “

If you fancy getting involved in Ryan’s three-month whirlwind summer road trips than check out his site for contact info as he’s always looking for new models. RyanMcGinley.com

Check out Diesel's new design competition.
"ART DEMOCRACY! With this idea in mind, Diesel created DIESEL WALL, a competition dedicated to young artists and designers, to offer them the opportunity to showcase their works on an extraordinary scale: monumental, freestanding vertical walls in the centres of world’s most important cities. The ultimate goal being to salvage what prominent precious public space is left. With this philosophy, Diesel created Diesel Wall 5 years ago. This year launching on March 3rd, the Diesel Wall art contest continues its tour around the world and reaches 4 new corners of the planet: Manchester (UK), Barcelona (Spain), Zurich (Switzerland) and NY (US).

Any creative, inspired person from any country in the world can submit their designs for the chance to feature in this new edition of the project…and conquer a Wall! The artists will have total freedom in sending concepts: art is above all a means of unconstrained self-expression. "

^KESH^

Kesh is a 21-year old emerging fashion designer and DJ, and has been a prominent player in the fickle london fashion/club scene for more than a moment now. She recently featured as part of the MAN Fashion show, the London Fashion Week platform for launching new mens fashion talent, curated by Fashion East and Topman. That has previously fostered talents such as Carri Mundane of Cassette Playa, Henry Holland and Aitor Throup.

Kesh’s style is a mix of graphic 80’s fashion and ghetto-glam style.

She started designing at the age of 12 and more recently has been flogging her sell out graphic T-shirts on her online at Big Cartel. They have been picked up by the likes of Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West.

This girl’s talent knows no limits, she used to edit SUPERSUPER the Nu-Rave magazine that helped to birth the London Nu-Rave scene. She also acts as stylist for M.I.A, is one half of successful DJing duo The Coconut Twins and has even been known to turn her hand to modelling.

She is the queen of customisation, picking up most of her outfits in second hand shops. "Nearly everything you see me wearing costs less than a large pizza. I dress so cheap I should be homeless!"

After a flurry of scissors and safety pins, she can turn any charity shop find into something hot and sexy, screaming Kesh appeal. Don’t believe me? Watch her make a 30min dress on Current TV.

Andy Council is a Bristol based illustrator with a particular fondness for dinosaurs. His trade mark is a style which sees him using a combination of graphics, line drawing, ink, paint and pen to assemble an array of objects in a form, such as to create another overriding image. For example, towns and villages that form the shapes of dinosaurs or chickens and rabbits made out of tanks. His work is currently gaining popularity and features regularly in the Guardian.

Recently he has been invited to contribute to the ‘Masters Reborn’ exhibition at the Compound gallery, Portland, Oregon, US. Above is his piece, for ‘Masters Reborn’ a junk food reworking of ‘Vertumus’ by Giuseppe Arcimboldo. The show features a selection of re-interpreted great artistic masterpieces and opens on the 3rd of April.
