Oguz began amateur photography three years ago as an hobby after he met with Oguz Meriç but increasing grew mesmerized with his new found tool’s the ability to capture ‘moments’ in life. He began to perceive that these personal archives he was collecting were individualistic in some sense as it captures only life around him as a beholder but it was also documenting the intricacies of the world interwoven with his own existence. In a sense, he believed that unlike other visual media that edited and refined ‘life’ that it captured, photography had this immense raw appeal to capture the simplest of ‘moments’ in the usual mayhem of daily life. He strongly feels this is in essence a power of visualization that is as important to defining an image of a geographical location or culture as the literary works of art and music native to the place. How can a photograph define a ‘moment’ in the paceless march of time? For Oguz, the answer lies in the ability to capture the fascinating facets of everyday life, pursuing the simple but potent visuals from day-to-day events and locales with patience and perseverance as Cartier-Bresson aptly defined it “exploring the rhythm of surfaces, lines and meaning among reality”.
