the other day i found some old negs in a drawer that i hadn't seen since i took them 16 years ago!
i felt like carter opening tutankhamun's tomb. heh heh, here's me...
this it made me realise, i just don't take enough photos!
i've been grinning my ass off all night at shots of me and my mates on our first foreign holiday together when we were 18. people and incidents captured that we still talk about today, half a lifetime away. just a bunch of bullshit snapshots taken for my own enjoyment, and thats what i've got away from.
i've got so i don't take photos when i think 'oh thats been done so who would want to see that again' or 'it's been done and i can't do it better so whats the point'.
so i need to start taking photos for my own enjoyment again, even if no one ever sees them, and if people see them and like them too, then thats a bonus.
hope everyone's well, and i hope you too find a set of negs in a drawer from back in the day :D
oh, and if you're wondering, thats the football shirt of f.c.palermo, sicily ;)
i thought it would be a good idea to try the new collaborative group blog tool out on something i've been thinking about for a while, what's everyones favourite photos of all time. i'm sure we have many and it's difficult to choose, but i'm interested in what you all like so i'll kick off.
this shot by neil leifer is of ali v williams, and the instant i saw it it became one of my favourites. his innovative use of a remote shutter release in the lighting gantry was possible because it was the first fight in the houston astrodome, and the lighting rig was 80ft up rather than the usual 20ft because of the sight lines for seating. genius, read all about it here.
hi, thanks a lot. sorry about the late reply! the guide to composition seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth! since the uber photography page had a revamp it's gone, which is a shame 'cos i tried showing it to someone last week :( maybe if you ask nhat (http://orangefunk.uber.com/) he'll add it back to the blog and give you a link or something? i accidentally wiped my access to it so can't even take a screen grab for you! hope you are well :D
I came accross your site via Mr Weeks's, via dA. Cool page man. You've got some really nice images goin' on. I look forward to reading and watching more often. Mark
Hi mate! I’ve been having problems getting my friend request to Uber Photography. Did you experience the same thing? Is this normal? Just thought I’d ask. Hope your doing well Take care!
beautiful photographs. the bw's especially. I really like those. and yeah, the dog with the compressed air is pretty funny. I am still trying to copy the sounds it makes.
Hey Christian- Set all your Photo folders to Public and this will correct the issues on your page. You may need to re-insert your page background, but you shouldn't have to. Some of your folders are definitely set to private, which is why you're getting that message on thumbnails too. Hope that helps!
No, I haven't developed my roll yet. I sent it to the lab only today and it'll take a couple of days before I get a CD... I'm really anxious to see it :) I used a delta 400. I'll let you know if anything worth while comes out of that.
Thanks a lot for the comments on my blogs; makes it worthwhile writing them if I know at least one person is reading! The dolphins are amazing and I look forward to reading more of your blogs as they come up.
Hey brother, thanks for the sweet animation thingy. It took me a couple tries (not familiar with html), but I got it workin on my profile page. Uber misfits unite! hehe. Nice b&w work, btw, good tonal control and solid framing. Check out my photos if you'd like, I'm always looking for criticism. (http://joshuacorbett.uber.com) cheers, Josh
