The Costume Institute Gala at the Met always brings out the heaviest of hitters and this year was no exception.

This year's theme was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy," and this was a big Green Light for Fashion's Best (or at least those who think they are fashion's best) to parade out some flabbergasting looks.

My favorites:

Christina had the best look hands down; if she were a superhero, what would her name be?

Gisele was slammin' and Tom decided to slick his hair back for the occasion...

Ignore everything else but this stunning Alexander McQueen dress:

Claire Danes proves Classic is Classic in this Narciso Rodriguez piece of perfection:

These 2 model gals were rocking the Pucci deliciously...

Continuing my current obsession with Emilio P was Joy Bryant and her mischievous escort Matthew Williamson who was conjuring up the Joker with his fab outfit...

Zac Posen attempted a similar look without much success...

Scarlett used the occasion to show off her new engagement ring and the fact that she knows D & G:

And I was happy to see that the Olsen twin on the left is looking like a real woman instead of what some may describe as a decrepit Dickensonian child in her mother's clothes (see twin on right):

Now on to the inevitable silliness that these events tend to proliferate:

Posh does her best Nancy Reagan impersonation. Just Say NO Victoria!!

I think these gals took the superhero theme and descended a bit too far into Planet Tacky's rough terrain:

Lily is adorable but c'mon you're a grown man...

...and I will not comment on Katie and Tom because they are a target almost as easy as NOT getting to some OT level.

Until next time my friends...

I just can't believe all the things people say
Am I black or white? Am I straight or gay?
Do I believe in God? Do I believe in me?

I can't understand human curiosity
Was it good for you? Was I what you wanted me to be?
Do you get high? Does your daddy cry?

Do I believe in God? Do I believe in me?
Some people wanna die so they can be free
Life is just a game, we're all just the same...do you wanna play?

Listen
People call me rude, I wish we were all nude
I wish there was no black and white, I wish there were no rules

Do I believe in God? Do I believe in me? Let me tell ya...
Some people wanna die so they can be free
Life is just a game, we're all just the same...don't ya wanna play?

...THINK ABOUT IT...

...ABOVE IS BROUGHT TO YOU IN HONOR OF TODAY'S ANNOUNCEMENT...

It's been a while since I've posted anything but sometimes inspiration takes time. Just finished reading a bio of John&Yoko I picked up at Counterpoint Used Books...a little goldmine across the street from the Celebrity Scientology Center in L.A...where karmas collide I suppose...(or perhaps a nod to BP&DM)
I've always dug John & Yoko...what they stood for as a couple, and as individuals; this book sort of brought it home a little more for me. It's called "The Ballad of John and Yoko," and was put together by Rollingstone editors in the days and weeks just following John's death.
So then I'm at the gym today and I pick up an old issue of Fashion Rocks "a supplement to Conde Nast Traveler." Flipping through and there I see Sean and Irina. Ok I must dig them too. love their style, love that they sing and write songs together. I mean Yoko was the best dressed at the Grammy's -- style runs in the fam. I'm not suggesting that Sean&Irina are our generation's John&Yoko...but DAMN are they hot.
here's the whole spread in case you missed it the first time...

Hi LizRiz! Thanks for the add!
I love the content on your site, you have amassed a plethora of interesting reading and visuals–I could visit for hours! Sean kinda looks like Johnny Dep in the Rock the Boat shot, and an uncanny and haunting reflection of his Pa in the first photo! Excellent stuff!
