STYEL has recently been obsessed all things 70s (note the last blog). it was a time much more natural and easy than it is now, yet it didn't lack style or sexiness in the least. high waists, wide legs, and--perhaps most obsession- inducing-- high shoes marked the era with a sophisticated yet undone chic. and not just any high shoes will do either. they have to be tall, they have to be chunky, and most importantly, they have to strike the perfect balance between ugly and attractive. you know what we're talking about....yes, kork-eases. without further ado...
we have had a long, fulfilling love affair. you were always there for us, we could take you to the clubs or to a picnic to meet our family and you were never out of place, and you had that certain bad-boy je ne sais quoi that kept us coming back for more. . . but the time has come. we've met someone else. we once loved the way you always held us close, but now, well, we just need our space. we've found something more free, more effortless, and they make us feel great. yes, wide leg jeans. it's not you, skinnies, it's us. let's still be friends, okay?
designers' collaborations with big retailers are nothing new, but a designer's collaboration that don't look like a designer's collaboration is. hawks by geren ford is ford's collection at urban outfitters, and let STYEL be the first to say, its really cool. really cool. the dresses and tops and shorts are so effortlessly cool and edgy and easy to wear... have a look for yourself:
fresh's cannabis rose fragrance is the perfect floral-spicy-woody blend that is both hippie and chic. major plus: it's strong enough so that other people notice it, but not overpowering. it's the kind of scent that once you put it on, you will spend the rest of the day trying to find discrete, non-awkward ways to smell yourself.
I'm sitting here in a pair of super skinny-legged Ksubi's (in reference to your blog) =], and wanted to holler back and say I "LESS THAN THREE" YOU TOO!
