I went over to Carly's tonight, she wanted to do some cooking and i wanted her house not to burn down, so i figured i should help her.

she had a recipe for a spaghetti with mushrooms and spinach. it took about an hour to make, but it was amazing it was just so wicked! we are really good cooks, don't even doubt it.

my favourite part of the evening was the browning of the mushrooms. I sprayed the pot and threw in the pound of mushrooms, they had to browned for 7 minutes, 2 minutes in they began to chirp and it sounded like they were talking to eachother, it was beautiful.

i love to cook and i love musical vegetables

I have been absentee from the blog scene for too long, getting bad deja vu

it is my favourite time of year... fashion week, well multiple fashion weeks: new york, london, milan, and paris will all be a buzz in the upcoming weeks.

i probably won't be reporting much unless i see something divine, which is likely to come from balenciaga or marc jacobs, though i am looking for surprises too.

alyson came over yesterday and we watched a great french movie

here is a clip, the entire thing is a musical, all of the dialog is sung

i love oscar wilde, there will be future posts dedicated to him soon

i have given up on tv i realize

i haven't watched a show in a long time, and even at that it was totally random, i used to have my weeks planed out by what was on tv, but now i dont even care.

i watched princess mononke the other day, it was sweet, i enjoyed it a lot for a film i got on a whim.. or perhaps because of a reference to it on the oc... i was young and wishful i should be forgiven

i read a great short story in my shorter genres class
"girls and boys"- by alice munro, check it out its beautiful

today in theater and film we watched citizen Kane.
it was quite good, it made me want a 12 foot tall mantle and a walk-in fireplace... but i'll save that for another post

dave shared a great video with my while i was sick this weekend, it is beautiful... i have watched it a lot since he sent it. enjoy

so i forgot to mention the highlight of my day.

when i got to school i decided i would buy myself a tea, i deserved it and was a little tired after my twelve hours of sleep.

as i approached union market i read the question board (everyday a question is posted and the first 10 people to answer correctly get a free hot bevereage *note* i got a free tea for knowing something about andy warhol being shot). this mornings question was "What kind of object was the main character on the children's television show Telefrancais?"

any guesses? if you were a loser in the nineties (like i was) you have to know this

i will give you a little minute to think

so for knowing the answer i got a free chai tea, it started my day off quite well

i'm dismayed

so in english this morning i checked my myspace. david levithan's new book came out today or perhaps yesterday, the important thing is that it is out. i scowered the chapters website, but its not in stock anywhere local.

after class i booked it to the closest payphone and called the bookstore in limeridge, they didnt have it, but i could order it and it would be here in two weeks. bitch please, i'll drive to burlington, they had his last book on the shelves for weeks before it was released and the internet said it wasnt in stock.

so defeated i walked to the bus stop. halfway there i realized i lost my lunchbag. i han back to mdcl and searched the classroom and the phones for it. it was gone. i was more pissed about loosing my waterbottle than my actual lunch. now defeated and mad i walked in what was now rain to the bus.

i told cristy about my lost lunch and she called aurora, her or michelle had grabbed it for me, relieved i was on the bus beside ellyson. we talked all the way to eastgate. we caught up. i really have missed, since we graduated i haven't seen much of her. but next weekend we are visiting alyssa and the lot of us will exchange gifts.

when i got home i said hi to my father and bustled off to the basement. i turned off the lights and popped in a disc of my-so-called-life, not any episodes in particular but they turned out to be good ones.

correction:

when talking about my so-called-life all episodes are good, most great in fact, and some are inspirational and life-changing. but i often take them for granted because i've seen some over 9 times (which isn't exactly a lot, as there are episodes of the oc i have seen over 25 times, but because of the caliber of the television show its like owning 9 balenciaga jackets compared to 25 from old navy, in the end they are all jackets, but some are just much more important and beautiful than the others. )

My-So-Called-Life is exactly what it claims to be, my life, though i am not now or have i ever been a 14 year old crimson-haired girl with eccentric best friends, and an illiterate crush, but at the end of the day (or the 44 minutes thanks to my new box set) i feel that i am watching conversations i've had, moments i've experienced, feelings i have regretted or basked in

i imagine that angela is my friend, rayanne spit at me in a hallway once, i asked ricky for fashion tips, i shared a text-book with sharon in soc, i lent jordan catalano a pen and with every single viewing of the show i realize that simultaneously, i am brian krakow, and in love with him at the same time.

there are so many things about the show that i love, one blog is not enough, i will contine to write about it often.

so my father joined me... we both watched it, then he showed me some youtube videos, i will post one soon. it's 8 minutes, but SO worth it. but the other one he showed me was messed and my fathers own lack of modern pop culture inspired this blogs title. i hope you enjoy

so i'm pretty sure i looked really good today. is that pretensious to say? even if it is, i still looked good.

i was wearing the clothes i bought when i went out with nesreen, the 80's levis and the ralph lauren shirt. the jeans have a different, they're too long so i rolled the bottoms whcih started off the hip vibe. the shirt is yellow and white striped but i'm pretty sure its like an actual dress shirt and i meant to be worn tucked in, but i didn't, so it was really quite long but in the best way. i thew on my old blue cardigan from gap and my green low-top chucks and i must say i was looking very indie elite. carly said i was a sex bomb!

aside from my amazing apparel choices, my life has been going swell as well.i have been reading sylvia plath's the bell jar on the bus when there is noone to talk to, and its good so far, i really like it but i have a feeling its going to get depressing soon, but oh well.

theatre and film is going pretty slow out of the gates. the movie we watched yesterday, calendar, some dreadful canadian thing from the early nineties, though it seemed timeless in its inability to engage. the message was good, but as me and a girl i just met for the first time (and now love because of this moment and the fact that she was wearing a beret) simultaneously said "it was poorly executed." and today in class the prof repeated himself a bunch of times and i'm not quite sure what, if anything was important. i have a good feeling that the films and the lectures will get better, i think he is just trying to scare some kids away.

art history is not the same without Dr. McQueen and steph p. so i won't even mention it after that brief mentioning.

i should be getting to sleep and perhaps do my readings ... but more importantly i should figureout what i am going to wear that is going to be more "sex bomb" and indie elite than todays, which was oh so amazing. i think im going to have to put it on and take a picture just so you know how sweet this 19 dollar wardrobe rejuvination was.

yesterday was a day of pure style. Nesreen and i went to value village to find ourselves new looks. i was a little late, but once i arrived. BAM, it was just excellent.

we pretty much devoured the whole village of value in the town of the creek that is stoney.sunglasses, bags, dresses, jackets, suits, hats, we did it all. here is some proof

i bought a tote bag and a shirt, nesreen bought a jacket and a few shirts and perhaps something else
then it was 1 king bus and a sketch bus later and we went to nes' for lunch. hummus, salad, and fruit and rice, it was absolutely lovely. next we watched some arabic television and saw some of the greatest commercials of all time. one for a hair salon made me smile a lot, here is the website:
then was a bus trip to the value on fennell for more shopping. there was just oh so much to look at, it was a feast for the spirit.
i convinced nesreen to buy a skirt, she bought some wicked sweaters and i got a killer pair of jeans.
what else did i buy you ask? well, while nesreen was trying on about 900 different outfits i found a hat, or a beret if you like. and i put it on just for kicks, but i noticed that if it moved it, it kept its shape. i call it my biomorphic beret.
after the value trip we went to limeridge to return pyjamas my grandmother bought me. it was 5 o'clock by now and the mall was closing. we headed on a bus downtown. it was eventful to say the least, like the woman beside me who smelled as if she had just rolled around in a cat box, as if it were stylish to smell of cat urine.
the bus to the creek was much more enjoyable, the man and alicia made me smile. nes and i got off and went to time hortons for something to snack on before meeting carly at pho in an hour. the above picture of me in the biomorphic beret were taken there, and there are more in my photos folder, but i thought posting them all would be excessive .
carly met us at pho and we had an excellent dinner, carly and i had pad thai, nesreen had some tasty looking chicken dish
we had a hoot in pho it was absolutley amazing, it was a rave.
we bid carly adieu and went to shoppers drug mart so that i could buy dental floss, because i am chaning my life around and starting to floss my teeth (i'm going four days in a row)
my dad drove nes home and the night was over.
it was amazing night and i love my ladies

today was going to be an easy day, and i suppose it was but in a different way than i had expected. i didnt't eat breakfast until 4:30 and i think that simple fact foreshadows the rest of the days events quite well. my mother spent the day taking down christmas decorations and my father watched the hockey game between canada and sweeded, i watched it too, but i don''t remember why.

i told alyssa to call me, so we could hang out and i could giver her the wicked awesome gift i stumbled upon. she never called, so i settled into my room and was going to watch princess mononoke but never got the chance.

dave messaged me and asked if i still wanted to see juno, i did tremendously so. i was still putting socks on when dave came to the door, but i grabbed some water and we were off for our second attempt to see juno.

we drove to cheyenne's but she didnt want to come and then dave went home and changed while i scratched his dog, sammi. we headed up the red hill expressway and boogied to upper james to meet up with liz and co. and see it.

by the time we found a parking spot and got to the door, the tickets were sold out and liz was nowhere to be found. we assumed she had gotten in already, while waiting though, we came upon rob and some of his chums, their movie was sold out as well so we stood puzzled in the lobby for quite a while.

thirty minutes later, they went off to find shrimp and we (after calling liz and discovering that they were indeed in the theatre, first row to be specific) decided to go back into the creek and try and find something to do. we still plan on seeing the movie though, hopefully the third time will be a charm.

a couple parking lots and phone calls later, we decided to go to phos and pick up something to eat (because my stomach was working on a schedule where 10:30 was about supper time). we walked into pho dau bo and it was deserted, a man was mopping the floor and the waitresses were counting their tills. we were going to sit down, but opted for take out instead.

dave's spring rolls and my pad thai in tow we headed back to my place to chill. we saw two outrageous scene fem-monsters in some kind of gang war yelling at eachother outside of pizza pizza. my favourite of the rare breed had on pink (that appeared purple to my colour blind eyes) tights (NOT PANTS, TIGHTS) with two belts assymetrically placed over her bum. her hair looked like it had just been coughed up by an african gorilla, as we drove away i regretted not asking if they needed a ride.

we settled into the living room and debated if we should watch my so called life, or it's always sunny in philadelphia. after deciding that liberty high school was a much more appropriate local than paddy's pub, we dove in to the vietnamese dishes and flicked on one of the two episodes of mscl i had never seen.

it is a new favourite, i said to david "this isnt television, this is life... set to music". the show never ceases to amaze me, and it was at this moment i came to love anglea, not at the crimson haired girl who sometimes appears on my tv, but as a friend.

i wonder if she could give me any advice on how to snag brain krakow...

after dave left to work on his essay, i watched the rest of the series, and after i recovered from the true beauty of the show, i began to plan tomorrow, which has quickly become today with nesreen. photos and lengthy story to follow, later...
