every year at mt smart stadium in auckland Big Day Out - a music festival made up of act after act of music talent spread out over about 9 stages - is heald for the heards of fans from across the country.
to be honest this year i wasn't that excited. sure there were people i would love to go and see, but most of them were local acts that i could easily see any time. but, none the less, i headed along like the 135,000 other music junkies.
usually before the day you would grab a copy of the time table and circle which bands you wanted to see and when and where and try to map how your day would be taking extra care not to miss anything important. this year i did none of that. i just rocked up to the gates and decided to take what comes and have a fairly care-free day.
this year the bands playing were: Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Arcade Fire, Shihad, LCD Soundsystem, Scribe, Unkle, Dizzee Rascal, Supergroove, Battles, The Clean, Katchafire, Carl Cox, Krafty Cuts and MC Dynamite, The Phoenix Foundation, Billy Bragg, SJD, Grinspoon, Hilltop Hoods, Bleeders, Paul Kelly, Anti-Flag, The Nightwatchman, Tiki Taane, Dr Octagon and Kutmaster Kurt, Liam Finn, Cut Off Your Hands, Kate Nash, Op Shop, Pluto, Die! Die! Die!, Havoc, Collapsing Cities, Enter Shakiri, Operator Please, Shy Child, Brand New, Spoon, Dam Native, The Checks, Young Sid, Antagonist, Motocade, White Birds and Lemons, Spoon, Aceyalone, The Shocking Pinks, Missing Teeth, DJ Mu, Battle Circus, Surf City, Dick ‘Magik’ Johnson, False Start, All Left Out, The Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society, The Electric Confectionaires, Kerretta, The Lookie Loos, Pig Out, Solstate, The Exiles.
i was flicking through old magazines the other day, and i found this spread by stephen marr in one of the last ever pavement mags, spring 2006. all the rad kids on the page had the wickedest hair, but this gurl in particular stood out to me. i love it aye. anyway, i think i'm gonna grow my hair like hers. haha, it won't be hard - for all those who know me, you'll know i have curly hair :)
i love how yoda my title is... or how title my yoda is? i don't know?
anyway, its been a long time since i posted anything... well actually its been a long time since ANYTHING tbh, but i'm back, and i'm better than ever :/ whatev
anyway i just thought that i'd post something about whats in my head and on my monotonous little lemon-like mind, and that, my dear friends, is next year... which evidently is actually THIS year now. basically i've finished high school now and, or so i'm told, a widow of opportunities await me.... i'm just not sure which path to follow yet. i was accepted in to all the courses i applied for (bachelor of design, majoring in spacial or fashion) but i'm nit sure i want to do them. so i'm this little limbo era where i need to make up my mind. i've been frying over it for the last month now... and i've gotten no where. so, because of how retarded i am, i've decided now to take a year off.
yes a year off.
i'm not sure why, and i'm not sure what i'll accomplish by doing so, but a year off it is.
SOOOO me charlie and katie are looking at a little flat right on queen st, auckland. i'll find a job for the year, earn so dosh, and further extend the time i've given myself to ponder over my lifes choice.
The Gaurdian, 105 Queen St, Auckland
worry about the future in the future my pals. its always worked so far :/
so we go to have a look at this bad-boy apartment on wed next week. so stoked. it should be rad as and we've gonna get pet fish, one each, to go in the lounge. we own.
its been a long two week, and i've only just gotten back from my 'trip to auckland. it wasn't really a trip but rather a job hunting fortnight. i had fun staying a different friends places, and being kicked out of one on one occasion :/ but it was fun
unfortunatly i don't have much to document about my times as most of it was spent hanging with friends, drinking coffee, and smoking heavily.
i do however have this ONE picture that was taken of me on the afternoon before the coke-cola christmas in the park.
life is good and i shull be back up in auckland within the next two weeks. chow
