This past Saturday was definitely a Hip Hop classic for LA. The legendary Dj Premier and Dj Statik Selektah was in town to promote both of their albums.....Premo started his own label called Year Round Records and the first act to come out on his label was the group, The NYG'z. The album is called "Welcome To G-Dom". Statik Selektah's new album, "Spell My Name Right" on his own imprint Showoff Records, is Statik's self debut album as well. To start the day off, Premo, Statik Selektah, & the NYG'z did an instore at Fat Beats. Alot of fans came by to the store to get their pictures and autographs with the fellas.....it was a good turnout.......<br>

After the instore, there was another instore at Fat Beats right after Premier's appearance. This was a Producer's panel that featured Evidence of Dilated Peoples, Dj Khalil of Self Scientific & Aftermath, J-Thrill, & of course, Statik Selectah. Von T of the Lab Techs (who's a dope producer in his own right) was the mediator for this panel discussion. Alot of people asked alot of good questions to our esteemed guests and gave very good insight to their skills, inspiration, and the industry. <br> <br> Later on that night, Dj Premier and Statik Selektah were both djing at the Crash Mansion in Downtown LA. Statik Selektah opened up the night playing classic Hip Hop joints and some of his songs off his new album. Alot of people were in the house that night, especially fans of Premo: OhNo, Revolution, Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5 fame, Roc C, Evil E (Ice T's DJ), Exile, Houseshoes, Dj Gi-Joe (Immortal Techniques' Dj), & Pacific Division. You can tell the people were anxious and ready to see Premo get down and Premo didn't disappoint. It's one thing to hear classic Gangstarr or a Dj Premier produced song in a club, but to actually witness Premier himself play his own catalog, is an experience in itself. Premier even brought out the NYG'z to perform a few songs off their new album. Overall, both events were a success.....even though I know Premier and Statik personally, I was still a Hip Hop fan first........Shout outs to Johnny Juice, Gordon (Year Round Records), Wes, & Eric G.<br> <br>
