I assume that all parents have at least a handful of moments that they're not too proud about; I'm talking about some sort of slip-up in the safeguard arena. All parents have somethings they don't talk about much... right? Such as finding your toddler wrapped up in a live extension cord, or finding your child laughing, tangled in a bunch of plastic grocery bags... you know the sorts. My daughter, Vivienne:
My wife and I awoke this morning, with Vivi at our bedside while I hear my wife say "VIVI!! What did you do?!?!?" She looked like a banzai tree gone all sorts of wrong, with hair all over her shoulders and back.
Since I've had a little time in-between jobs, I've been trying to catch up on life a little bit. One of the things I've needed to catch up on is yard work. We had our landlord fire our gardener as part of a deal to lower our rent a bit and in doing so, the yard work has caught up to me. Now mind you, our yards have never been 'pretty', so you can imagine what our yards look like after having been neglected for like 3-4 weeks; Long tall wild grasses and LOTS of weeds.
So I went home early lastnight (9pm), with a lil grace from my boss, so that I could spend some time with my wife; she just arrived back home yesterday from Santa Fe, NM for 8 days. We gabbed for a bit and then decided to watch a movie. We watched 'He Was a Quiet Man' and I was excited to hopefully see Christian Slater in a better-than-average movie. IMDB rates this movie at 7.5 being somewhat high for IMDB i think... IMDB also classifies this movie as a comedy / drama. Now, I must say that Christian Slater's performance was no less than amazing; However, I did not like the movie at all. I found very lil humor in the movie, and the movie just feels very wrong. If this is what the film makers were aiming for, then they succeeded brilliantly. DO NOT see this movie if you are looking for a light-hearted comedy. This is a sad, depressing and alarmingly dark movie. Next time, Angie gets to pick the movie...
So I watched Enemy at the Gates lastnight. Overall it was an entertaining movie. I've always had a dream of being a top secret sniper. I've never really cared whether it was for the good guys or the bad guys, to be honest. But, somehow I ended up being a programmer; go figure. Anyhow, The acting wasn't fantastic, though some of the better acting i've seen from jude law, and there is one thing that really drives me crazy about films of a foreign subject: If you're not going to film the movie in the native language, then at LEAST try to use an accent when speaking english. The film is about the sniping activity during the battle of Stalingrad during WWII. The characters are all either Russian or German. So why is everybody speaking with either British or American Accents?!?! Does this bother anybody else? or am I just a picky biznatch? (rhetorical question...)
That being said, the movie really did give a good portrayal of what that period in time might have felt like. The city was basically reduced to a pile of rubble, and the Russians still continued to defend the city never letting the Germans take it over completely. That's hardcore right there mang, I don't care who ya are.
The movie has a good cast, but I think it could have been a lil better. Still, it was worth watching.
One of the last times I wrote a blog post, I mentioned that I would be re-doing my page. Well, that was about a year ago so I figured it was time to do what I said I was going to do. I hadn't messed with photoshop in over a year, so it took me forever to pick up where I left off; but all-in-all I'm happy with the end result. There are still some things that I think I will change, but I've run out of time this weekend.
That being said, I'm looking forward to getting more use out of my Uber account, and I will be getting my 'Geek' and 'Career' sections knocked out soon enough; Most of the hard work is out of the way now. I plan on separating my personal mumbo-jumbo stuff from my geek stuff so that the geek stuff can hopefully turn into a more resourceful section. I plan on utilizing the Uber Bookmark Tool to it's fullest potential, and logging all of the resourceful sites when I happen upon them.
So for now, thanks for visiting my page, Good Night and Good Luck!
