A thoroughly 21st century performer, Daren mixes live acoustic floorspots and gigs with solo and band recordings and podcasts. Previously seen performing with Air, Eyewonder, Normal, Tim Felix and Stars in Exile (see below), he has recently supported John 'Rhino' Edwards of Status Quo and toured the world with the Pet Shop Boys (as a roadie). Stars In Exile (2004 - Current) More recently he formed part of the ethereal rock quartet Stars In Exile, featuring Thelema exiles Tim Felix and Neil Harris, and Mint400 / Cortizone exile Andy Prestige. This hard-hitting foursome mixed guitar synths and rock licks with powerful drums for their debut album Luminosity. They are now working on penning new tracks for the follow-up (scheduled for late 2008).
Normal (1998 - 2001) Alongside Stevie Simmons, Sean"-y boy" Watkins and James "the frames" Walker these hard-working, ordinary lads played catchy, quirky indie numbers and were favourites of universities and local radio alike.
Air UK (1986 - 1996) With indie-pop outfit Air (not the French band), he supported an eclectic mix of similarly out-of-time acts (Comsat Angels, Gang Of Four, The Specials, Half Man Half Biscuit) and some up-and-coming indie acts (Gene, Travis, Out Of My Hair, Jenny Jones), and played the Greenbelt and Edinburgh festivals. Their drum and keyboard soaked songs never quite fitted in, but many of them now enjoying a revival now in raw acoustic form.
