toronto fashion week round two part two
so i guess i reached a maximum amount per blog in my first fashion week 08 one ... so here's part two with the rest of the backstage pictures ...

george was there too ...
so jealous of that d3 ... i shot the foo fighters last night (pictures in another blog soon) and the house photographer had one too ... 3200asa looks like 320 ... it's crazy!

andddddd i just lost my whole fucking post after i finished ... up until the last picture.

so fuck it ...

instead of throwing my computer of the fucking window like i should, here's the backstage without any fucking narration cause i'm not spending that time to redo it.

i don't even get how that can happen. i clicked publish and it went through. and then only half of it got published.

i think i just popped a vein in my brain from being so pissed. the right side of my head really hurts and feels like it's pulsating.

lisa tant from flare and designer andy the-anh!

one of my favorites ... i think it sums up backstage ...

eric, on the right, is l'oreal canada's official hair stylist! very cool guy!

eddie on the right ... l'oreal canada's official makeup designer and artistic director for fashion week toronto!

hectic shit!

i shot her a lot!

manually focusing at f/1.4 on moving models is kinda tricky! and there's no redoing it with film!

it's easier when they're mobile!

this one caught me trying to take a picture of her talking to her friend and asked if she could see it but i told her it was film!

the one out of focus thought i was shooting her and i was so happy she didn't ask to see it after ... she probably wouldn't have been too happy that i was actually photographing her friend.

one of my jobs was to shoot a canadian supermodel named coco getting "made up" backstage!

it was really hard to shoot film backstage cause there was always shit i had to do digitally and carrying 3 big slr's is impossible ... so i could only do it when i had a moment (which was almost never) in between jobs to run backstage with my film camera!

coco was really cool!

when i first heard "coco's coming" i thought of ice t's coco and i was like what the fuck??

i think i prefer this coco though. never met or shot or heard anything about ice t's coco though!

okay ... just a little aside from backstage ... what the fuck was up with the unibrows in this show???

army of unibrows!

i really like this photo too ... i think this also shows the mood of backstage model life ... interview, hair, people doing their own thing ... i like her facial expression here too ...

and this is one of my favorites from backstage on film ... i'm excited to print this as an 11x14 as well!

so that's all i think ... i hope ...

fashion week was fucking amazing again like last season!

so happy i could be a part of it! and i'm happy to have met all the cool people and see some faces from last season!

i spent way too much time on this blog ... i need to go eat.

easter family dinner!

happy easter if you celebrate it!!!! and it's refreshing to put something up here again!

ciao!

great to see you shooting film backstage as well! looks like you had a great time. coco is out of this world. glad you got to meet her! keep it up :)
Posted by arthur on June 23, 2008 8:20 PM
thanks! i try to shoot it as much as i can in between the stuff i need to make digitally! kinda sucks that work has to come first sometimes, but i'd rather make a digital photo than no photo at all!

coco was very nice!

Great shots with film indeed very hard to focus manual at 1.4... you did great though. Some really cool shots here!
Posted by arthur on May 06, 2008 5:40 PM
thanks!!!

focusing at 1.4 is extremely hard. i have never put it on auto focus with my film camera in general but when i'm shooting wide open on that 50mm i don't trust auto focus anyways cause it's such a fine plane of focus ... the camera almost always misses. but i think focusing manually is getting easier ...

thanks for the comment! :)

Great shot!! I used to shoot events at f/1.4. I should try it again. Maybe with this new series I am working on. Take care my friend and hope you had a good Easter:-)
Posted by arthur on May 06, 2008 5:36 PM
thanks man! 1.4 is nice - it just gives it something that you don't get at tighter apertures! almost like a personality ... i love it!

you should go back to shooting like that!!

hope you had a good easter as well!!

i'm so late with these responses! :(

that blog-losing shit happened to me the first time i wrote something here, its really frustrating...
great backstage pictures as well
but in my opinion, the ones with the backlights are the best...
congratulations mate!
Posted by arthur on April 17, 2008 3:53 PM

backstage is just too fun!
Posted by CMphotogra... on March 24, 2008 4:49 AM
nice coverage.
i prefer the b&w shots. too bad that they wouldn't sell. i'd buy them if i was an editor ;)
Posted by arthur on April 17, 2008 3:52 PM
thanks man!

sucks about the b/w but it's all good cause i just made them for myself and i was able to use them for my final school project too so it was fine! :)

too bad you're not an editor! :)

I think it's awesome that you found the limit on photos for a post, man. Funny how it wasn't someone like Chris with his entries. Congrats on that!

Loved all these! What a crazy time for you. The "hectic" shot up above was really just that...damn! And, for whatever it's worth -- I feel your pain when it comes to the weird posting that Uber does sometimes. I learned to cut & paste everything before trying to send it through, especially after having one post do what you said this did to you.

Thanks for sharing all of these. I can't wait to see the Foo shots you've got next.
Posted by arthur on April 17, 2008 3:51 PM
i thought it was funny too - but it pissed the shit out of me when i couldn't figure out why it wasn't posting properly!

thanks so much for the nice words man! i love putting up my work and i'm glad you had fun looking at them! :)

take it easy!
