apparently it's called
loafing when cats sit like this -

my friend vanessa used to say her cat was "loafing" because she looked like a loaf of bread and then found out that it was actually called the "loaf position"

annnddd i just lost another entire blog post JUST before i was about to save it.

i can't stand this fucking blog shit sometimes ...

thank god it was a relatively small post.
i went and shot in my backyard when i saw that my cat wanted to come in ...

i thought she could stay outside seeing as it was so nice and let me make a few photos of her! i don't go in my backyard enough ... my parents complain about it and i guess i should. it's actually pretty cool there!

i love the reflection of my neighbor's house ...

i think i like reflections in general - simple, complex, with water, mirrors. i just like them all usually.

my cat likes rolling around.

and loafing apparently ...

that's one of her favorite spots in her garden.

or my garden. nah, more like my parents' garden! can't wait to have my own one day though! i imagine it will be pretty nice! like my room - i'm re-furnishing it a little bit. it should be nice when it's all done!

i like wide angles ...

and i found it interesting to watch my cat "do her thing" for a bit ... it was pretty fun seeing how she reacted to things like sounds and just the fact that i was there with a big black box for 10 minutes. and i found it interesting that she walked down to the end of the garden on this wooden line ...

i think i will chill more in my backyard this summer. it's pretty cool actually.

but one of these little pieces of shit caught my shirt when i was taking the photo of that tree -

i'm happy it was nice out.

yesterday i was in a winter jacket and a scarf and it was pouring like crazy. i'm not about that. it's so fucked that one day i'm in a winter jacket and the next i'm in a tshirt. not feeling it.

but my band played a show with neil and adam from three days grace ...

they performed an acoustic set for a charity at roy foss which is a car dealership here. they sell caddy's, hummers ... they had some pretty nice cars on exhibition!

three days grace and my band weren't the only performers ...

there was matt (i think) ... who played buble-esque music -

and a girl who was blind (but i forget her name) who was a really amazing singer!

i like the three guys in the background.

there were some speeches.

i thought the woman was aretha franklin when i first saw her ... she looked so familiar and it was bugging me ... but then i remembered that i recognized her because i photographed her a few months ago with eva avila and justin trudeau!

she was really nice!

this is vanessa chilling beside a chromed-out escalade -

our good friend, jackson, who is feist's brother, chilling in the "artist area"

and dave ...

and jules ...

it was a fun two days ... but i prefer the weather from today! :)

and we were originally supposed to open for three days grace but since they played before us, technically they opened for us! ;)

and the drummer is a really nice guy!

also ... shot two of my friends from high school who i haven't seen since our prom after party really quickly in my house cause i wanted to see what i could do with a flash and my nice orange wall ...

it was pretty cool ... i bounced the flash off a very very low white ceiling.

they're rappers and they were happy to have nice photos of themselves!

probably for their myspace. :P

i was happy with the turn out!

Close your eyes and search your soul for nothing less but something more.
Art Mola, why are you so good at taking photos?
Posted by viking-v on May 18, 2008 10:51 PM
love the blog art! and that vanessa chic is not only showing up the pimped out caddy, but she also knows what shes talking about when it comes to loafing!!
Posted by flipo on May 12, 2008 8:18 AM
not only cats love to roll around ;)

Lounging in the backyard with the kittie sounds relaxing!!
Thats cool that your still playing shows with your band!!
I need to start jamming out again!
Take care my friend:-)

it was kinda cool. it's not something i'd do often, but once in a while it's alright!

we actually have another show with three days grace in a couple of weeks! i'm very excited for that! :)

you should start jamming man!!

@rpolom: i agree - i think weather really has a lot to do with my mood. and i just hate when my feet and clothes get soaked. it's a really shitty feeling walking around like that.

@scott: i wouldn't know cause i'm only subscribed to "cat lovers 101" :)

i'll do a series on my parents cats soon, they're fucking crazy! they fight at night with a local scottish wildcat, which incidentally is the only wild species on earth that cannot be tamed by humans! the wildcat quite often sits at the back door waiting to play/fight. it's some crazy shit mate, hope you're well :D
Posted by arthur on May 05, 2008 9:48 PM
figaro fights with my neighbor's cats a lot too ... usually when it steps on to my property. she's very protective like that. luckily there are no swedish wildcats, i think they would kick the shit out of her - she's strong though!

that's interesting that they are the only species that can't be tamed. i wonder why.

you should shoot the wildcat waiting to fight ... and then the match. :P

i'm really good, just enjoying not having to go to class for the summer! i'm not used to having school ending so early!! hope you are doing well too! :)

yea dude the first photo of the two rappers is brilliant. The bounce flash really worked out very well. And you have one of those cats that looks exceptionally pissed all the time. ;) cheers man.
Posted by arthur on May 05, 2008 9:41 PM
thanks! i was pretty happy with the result too seeing how simple a set up it was!

i know what you mean about her looking pissed. she's ferocious. soon after i took those photos of her she saw my neighbor's cat and chased it out ... she fights a lot. i think she's kind at heart but doesn't like "competition."

interesting little creatures.

your cat is great to photograph!
its not the "aww, how cute" ones, i like it :D
Posted by arthur on May 05, 2008 9:38 PM
thanks! i have fun shooting her sometimes! i wish i had photos of her when she was really small and young but i probably didn't even know what a camera was back then! :P

Nice shots! I like how that flash bounced on the last shots.

Hope you’re doing well!
Posted by arthur on May 05, 2008 11:02 AM
thanks man! i was just messing around ... nothing special really but sometimes it's fun! i was pretty happy with the flash too ... i'm starting to experiment with it more lately.

i'm great ... a little tired from some re-furnishing and organizing, sorting and moving stuff in my room but i love the sun! i hope you are doing well too!!
Posted by Richard Po... on May 05, 2008 11:56 AM
As long as the sun shines I’m always good!

Haha, cat pictures ;)

Love the color saturation on your backyard, you could strip it and become a cat donkey ;)
Posted by arthur on May 04, 2008 9:04 PM
you completely read my mind! hey, do you know someone who can make a "cat donkey" badge for my photo vest??
Posted by Obsidian-F... on May 04, 2008 9:10 PM
They give them away free with lifetime subscriptions of 'cat fancy'... ;)
