Biography

Anonymous C (a.k.a. Chie Yamayoshi), a Los Angeles-based video artist and filmmaker, was raised in Tokyo, Japan where she was a TV director and news reporter. After leaving commercial industry and starting an avant-garde art-making practice, C moved to the US under the Japanese Government Overseas Programme for Artists and received a MFA in Film and Video at California Insitute of Arts and will also receive a MFA in Studio Art UC, Irvine in 2007.  She has had solo exhibitions at The Office, Huntington Beach; SCA Project Gallery, Pomona; Gallery Suzuki, Kyoto, Japan, and has been exhibited at REDCAT Theater, Los Angeles; Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach; Berkeley Art Center, Berkeley; LA Filmforum, Los Angeles; Gallery 825, West Hollywood; Ultra Star Cinemas, San Diego; CalArts, Valencia; UC Irvine Gallery, Irvine; LA Design Center, Los Angeles; Barnsdall Municipal Gallery, Los Angeles; Collectif Jeune Cinéma, Paris; and UCLA Hammer Museum of Art, Los Angeles.
