"The main challenge that drew me to specialize in the design of headwear was a desire to bring style, comfort, and above all, versatility to the modern hat. I wanted to design forms that would extend the wearability of a hat so that it was adaptable from day into evening and visa versa. My design concepts were influenced greatly by my travels to London, Deauxville, Paris (the home of my "inspirations", Coco Chanel & my Grand-Mere), then on to the Bahamas and Japan. While working as a professional model, I developed a passion for unique and unusual shapes and textures. My enthusiasm was further inspired by a trip to Ecuador to research the making of the Panama Straw hat, which launched me into experimentation with dyes, paint and various organic materials. This process only widened my capacity for exhibitional pieces which have been seen in various local wearable art exhibitions in California. MUCH TO MY SURPIRSE, I was approached by Woodbury University in Burbank, California to teach a Millinery class for their Fashion Design Students only a few years into the development of my hat business. I am still teaching, when I get the time to do so. I hope you will enjoy my work and appreciate how my hats complement your own personality and lifestyle for years to come..........
