Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi 28th Assembly District (Part of Queens County)
Andrew Hevesi was elected to the 28th Assembly District representing Forest Hills, Glendale, Kew Gardens, Kew Gardens Hills, Maspeth, Middle Village, Rego Park and South Jamaica in a special election on May 10, 2005, to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of former Assemblyman Michael Cohen.
Prior to his election, Andrew had a strong history of public service. He served as Chief of Staff to former New York State Assemblyman Jeff Klein and Director of Community Affairs for New York City Public Advocate Betsy Gottbaum. He also worked as a paralegal in the Queens County District Attorneyâs Office, Domestic Violence Bureau.
Andrew Hevesi was born and raised in Forest Hills and has lived here all of his life. He attended PS 144 in Forest Hills. He competed in local youth athletics leagues and now gives back to the children of his community by serving as Director of the Forest Hills Youth Athletic League Basketball Clinic.
Andrew Hevesi is committed to fighting to improve the quality of life for his constituents. He has and will continue to support legislation that will make our streets safer, protect access to quality, affordable health care, enhance our economy, create jobs, and provide our children with a quality education.
Assemblyman Hevesi will be serving on the following committees during his first term: Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Consumer Affairs and Protection, Corporations, Authorities and Commissions, Energy, Labor, and Racing & Wagering.
