Assemblyman Steven Englebright 4th Assembly District
As the Founding Director of the Museum of Long Island Natural Sciences at the State University at Stony Brook, Assemblyman Englebright's expertise as a geologist brings a rare perspective to the protection of the Pine Barrens watersheds that replenish our sole source aquifer. A graduate of Bayside High School in Queens, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Science Degree in Geology from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1974.
In 1990, the weekly newspaper "The Village Times" named Assembly Englebright "Man of the Decade" for his work in preserving the aquifer and unique natural areas. Assemblyman Englebright was named "Environmentalist of the Year&quo t; in 1989 by the Long Island Sierra Club. The Environmental Planning Lobby recognized Steve for his work in banning nonbiodegradable packaging in 1988 by giving him the "Local Legislator of the Year" award.
A Setauket homeowner since 1973, he is married to June Trent Englebright, and they are the parents of two children, Christina Marie and Jennifer Lynn.

Author and prime sponsor of the Plastics Law, the nation's first local legislation restricting the sale of plastic food packaging.
