ALLEGANY
Barb Hetzel, Chair
Special Message Allegany County is beautiful. When you enter it, you step back in time to the 1930's. It is a land of high hills, forests, lakes, water falls, streams, meadows, farms and small villages with old homes, churches, libraries, stores, etc. We have eagles, bear, deer, foxes and even a panther or two. We have a downhill ski resort (Swain), cross country skiing, lots of golf, three colleges, and bed-and-breakfasts. Come visit us, you will have a good time and it isn't expensive.
Allegany County needs jobs. It is a poor county with a strong work ethic. People want to work and business people tell me they work well. The schools are good, the cost of living is low, housing costs are low, and crime is minimal. This is a good place to locate a business.
