Charles Hunltey Nelson is an Atlanta based conceptual artist who utilizes various media in his investigations of personal identity and technology. His site-specific installations, paintings, drawings, and video work have been included in numerous exhibitions including solo exhibitions at Project Row Houses (Houston), Ingalls & Associates Gallery (Miami), Romo Gallery (Atlanta), University of Miami (Miami), Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (Atlanta) as well as group exhibitions such as “Gimme Shelter” at Saltworks Gallery (Atlanta) curated by Franklin Sirmans, “Now Is The Time” at Rush Arts Gallery (New York) curated by William Cordova, “Race in Digital Space 2.0” at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles), “Cyber Rhythms” at the Museum of Science & Industry (Chicago), “One Night at the Studio” at Top Floor Studios, London, UK, and the traveling exhibit “HairStories” organized by the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. His work has been reviewed on CNN.com’s Pipeline, in ARTnews Magazine, NKA: Journal of Contemporary African Art, Art Papers Magazine, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and Creative Loafing- Atlanta.
Originally from Houston, TX, Charles received a diploma in visual art from the High School for Performing and Visual Arts, his BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, and his MFA in painting from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
