Charlotte Ronson is partnering up with the Human Society of the United States to promote the stop of unnecesssary cruelty to animals in the fashion industry. After attending the HSUS’ “Cool vs Cruel” awards ceremony in November, Ronson decided to go fur free. “I don’t support cruelty to animals; anyway, faux fur can be just as chic,” said Ronson.
In her upcoming fall 2008 show, she will be showing faux-fur jackets with red heart-shaped “no fur” buttons attached to each one. She is also giving out HSUS fur-free buttons at her store in New York. Ronson will be joining other fur-free designers and retailers including: Betsey Johnson, Stella McCartney, Banana Republic, The Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, and Abercrombie & Fitch.
